The physical, mental, and cognitive growth of a child depends on the availability of wholesome food and basic healthcare. To avoid long-term and irreversible ill-health, all children need to consistently consume adequate nutrition.
Therefore, it is essential to spread awareness on preserving and fostering good health of children. The reality is that in India, every third child under the age of five suffers from chronic undernutrition (NFHS 4, 2016). Every country’s future depends on its children who should receive the best care possible.
All children need to eat regular, wholesome, and nutritious meals every single day. However, children under the age of 5 make-up 60% of the anemic population (NFHS 4, 2015-2016). Malnutrition in India is still a problem since the deprivation causes children to become anemic and underweight. These figures show that many children, starting at birth, are in critical need of fundamental resources for their whole development. Children require resources like medical treatment for their well-being, from routine checkups to parental knowledge.
In India, malnourishment causes 69% of deaths among children under the age of five (UNICEF, 2019), therefore CRY strives to make sure that children have access to quality medical treatment. Only 17% of children in CRY Project areas are underweight, compared to 32% of all children in India, according to NFHS 5. This implies that CRY Projects are working hard to address and prevent the issue of malnutrition.
If you want to help make a difference, you can donate to charity. CRY America is a reputable NGO for children that focuses on health and nutrition programs to help reduce the infant mortality rate (IMR), the child mortality rate (CMR), and the maternal mortality rate (MMR). Let’s help prevent malnutrition among India’s disadvantaged children and offer them a chance at a healthier future. Your contribution can help make a considerable difference in the lives of underprivileged children.
