About the project
The project operates in Ranchi, Jharkhand, to make urban development more inclusive. The project expands upon the slum upgrade and housing activities and increases outreach based on the needs of poor women.
This Project is fully funded by the Oak foundation.
Making a difference
CRY America’s Project Gujarat Mahila Housing Sewa Trust ensures that citizens and the most marginalized have a representative voice in governance, access to sustainable livelihoods, legal housing and affordable essential services like water, sanitation and electricity.
Way forward
● Expand upon the slum upgrade and housing activities, and increase outreach based on the needs of the poor women
● Amplify the voice and agency of poor women from slums, empowering them to address habitat issues in communities and to engage with and influence vital city-level decision-makers
● Increase employability and income for women construction workers through skill upgrades, and expand programs to multiply impact
● Synthesize the advocacy strategy based on first-hand grassroots experience and findings from direct research
The way forward
● Identifying vulnerable children and bringing them to children collectives
● Regular child participation and life skill session with adolescent groups
● Ensuring the progress of community action plan developed based on interface of children collective/adolescent girls group with community
● Meeting with parents of children groups on life skills and child protection issues
● Regular interface with the community to create space for children and community leaders for exchanging and sharing their ideas and experience related to child marriage
