Sex work was nothing new to Chandni’s community. Her tribe engaged in it as a source of income and her aunts and elder sister had been forced into it. She dreaded the day that she too would have to join them.
Yet, Chandni was about to walk a brand new path.
CRY America project Samvedna found out about Chandni and worked with the family to convince them that sending Chandni to school, and not sex work, was the best thing.
Chandni’s life has been totally transformed since that day. She has risen up the ranks and is now training to be a member of India's prestigious paramilitary forces!
With the right support, girls like Chandani can march to the beat of their own drum and contribute so much to the nation! Invest in them to create more #WomenOfTomorow!
Priyadarshini is a bright young girl in Tamil Nadu whose parents are bonded laborers. During the lockdown when school were shut & classes became online, Priyadarshini started accompanying her parents to work as they could not afford a phone for her studies. Priyadarshini was expected to drop out of school and become a child labor.
However, she was destined for so much more.
Through persistent counselling, the team at CRY America Project SPT convinced Priyadarshini’s parents to enrol her back in school. They also helped her cope with her studies.
Today, she is living life on her own terms as a 3rd year university student and is the first to go to college in her entire family!
Girls like Priyadarshini deserve a chance to change their lives and the lives of those around them - invest in them to create more #WomenOfTomorow!
Like many girls in her community, Kajal was set to get married at 17. It was just the way things were done in her village and it helped the family financially. She was devastated by the news.
However, CRY America project SSRF, which has been working in the slums of urban Varanasi, got to know about her situation and took action. They convinced her parents about the harmful effects of child marriage and appealed to them to give her another chance to continue school.
Kajal worked hard every day and did well in her studies. Eventually, she got selected to be the ACP at the police station for a day – a very rare honor.
Her entire community celebrated her success! Kajal is now the pride and joy of her parents and an inspiration to the girls around her. She hopes to soon become a professional social worker!
Imagine how Kajal’s life may have been without your support? It’s only because you invested in girls like her that they can make their mark and inspire other girls to do the same!
